Gross vehicle weight rating - A gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is the estimated total weight of a road vehicle that is loaded to capacity, including the weight of the vehicle itself plus fuel, passengers, cargo, and other miscellaneous items such as extra aftermarket parts. In the United States, two important GVWR numbers are 6,000 pounds (2,721 kg) and 8,500 pounds (3,856 kg).
